The 2026 U.S. Open is just a day away before the opening round tees off at the iconic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. Shinnecock Hills has challenged the game’s greatest players during the five previous times it hosted the U.S. Open, thanks to its demanding course design. This year, 156 of the world’s top golfers will battle for the championship trophy.

The star-studded field features Brooks Koepka, who etched his name in history as the first back-to-back U.S. Open champion since Curtis Strange in 1988 and 1989, securing titles in 2017 and 2018. Despite recently withdrawing from the RBC Canadian Open due to a hand injury, Koepka said he will compete at Shinnecock Hills. Joining him are Masters champion Rory McIlroy and PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai, both looking to add another major championship to their resume.

All eyes, however, will be on Scottie Scheffler, the world’s number one and the tournament favorite, as he chases a career Grand Slam. Scheffler has endured an 11-event winless stretch, the third-longest drought of his professional career, ahead of the U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open coverage begins Thursday, with live broadcasts on NBC, USA Network, NBCSN and the Golf Channel throughout the tournament. For fans seeking even more access, streaming options will be available on Peacock, and extensive featured group coverage will stream live on the USGA App and USOpen.com.
