To close out a huge 2024 for UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira he will, for once, not be accepting a short-notice fight after being asked by his company and fans to “save” UFC 310, but has instead accepted a part in the upcoming action-thriller movie Onslaught, per THR.
His Hollywood debut sees him following in the footsteps of colleagues such as Francis Ngannou (F9), Conor McGregor (Roadhouse remake), & Georges St. Pierre (Falcon and the Winter Soldier) who were cast in variously sized action villain roles in movies and TV.
The movie is an A24 production directed by Adam Wingard, best known for Blair Witch and the two recent Godzilla vs Kong movies.
Pereira seems like the perfect bit-part villain for what is described as a “gonzo action-horror thriller,” since he is famous for his stone-cold facial expressions and is often the focus of jokes about just how scary he appears.
He will be making his acting debut alongside Adria Arjona, a star on the ascent these days who is known for starring in Andor, Hit Man, and Emerald City. Her lead role will be that of a mother who has to protect her loved ones against a threat that has escaped a military base.
As for the champ, his character will be “The Butcher.” Few details have been revealed about the role and the movie as a whole yet, as filming is only just commencing, but Pereira will reportedly be able to showcase his martial arts skills.
It is doubtful that ‘Poatan’ will have lines in the film, but his presence should be all the more menacing and impactful for that fact.
