The flyweight division will take center stage when the UFC heads back to Las Vegas for UFC 310.
The main event will be Alexandre Pantoja defending the UFC flyweight title against former RIZIN champion Kai Asakura.
Pantoja (28-5) is 12-3 in the octagon and on a six-fight win streak. The 34-year-old beat Brandon Moreno to win the UFC flyweight title and has successfully defended it twice. Asakura (21-4) is a two-time Rizin bantamweight champion. The 31-year-old has beaten the likes of Manel Kape, Kyoji Horiguchi, and Hiromasa Ougikubo, and is on a two-fight win streak.

Fans have been clamoring for the UFC to have athletes compete in crossover fights. The fight is the closest thing to it, and Pantoja is more than ready for the challenge.
“I think all MMA fans want to see that, i.e., the best in the UFC versus the best in another promotion, another champion of the world – and I have that opportunity… I’m very happy with that opponent and even more because I have the main event [spot] right now,” Pantoja told MMA Fighting via Bloody Elbow.
Shavkat Rakhmonov was supposed to fight Belal Muhammad for the UFC welterweight title. However, Muhammad pulled out due to injury. Instead of making an interim title fight, UFC CEO Dana White booked Rakhmonov vs. rising star Ian Garry in a title eliminator as the co-main event.
Rakhmonov (18-0) is 6-0 in the octagon, winning all fights via a finish, while Garry (15-0) is 8-0. The former is preparing as if he was going to fight Muhammad.
“I’m going to just keep it the same way, and I’m pretty confident that I’m going to beat him… You know, it’s just training. I don’t want to praise myself too much. It’s just training, but I feel comfortable with how the training went. Whether it was striking or the ground, I felt comfortable and in control. So, I’m pretty confident in this matchup,” Rakhmonov told Ariel Helwani via MMA Junkie.
