San Jose Sharks forward Tyler Toffoli went to Hawaii over the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

The veteran winger says he feels rejuvenated and ready to play the final 25 games of the regular season.

“I think today was a really good skate for us,” Toffoli said on Tuesday. “It was high tempo, and it didn’t look like guys lost a step, In my opinion.

I think that’s what we want. We know that we have back-to-back coming up with two teams that play really hard.”

San Jose is about to embark on a seven-game road trip that starts against the Calgary Flames on Sunday and then the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

Toffoli is the Sharks leading goal scorer with 20 and has been relied upon by many young players in the locker room.

Since day one of training camp, his stall has been next to superstar rookie Macklin Celebrini.

While Will Smith’s locker isn’t next to Toffoli, the veteran still has had his influence on him.

San Jose is in last place in the NHL with a 15-35-7 record, and Toffoli says the break was good for the rookies, but he also felt they were playing some of their best hockey of the season.

“I think Mac and Will were playing some of their best hockey, in my opinion, so I don’t think they necessarily needed it,” Toffoli said. “I think rest is always good in any sense. You know they always say rest as a weapon.”

Toffoli had been dealing with a minor injury just before the break and told reporters that he feels much better now.

“[The break] definitely felt good for me. I was feeling a little banged up and came back feeling really good and excited,” Toffoli said.
