Tyler Reddick is contemplating his strategy ahead of the NASCAR regular season finale at Daytona, as he’s on the playoff bubble. While speaking with Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, Reddick talked about being on the bubble with Alex Bowman and how they could push each other for the win.

“That’s a possibility, I guess,” Reddick told Pockrass. “There’s so much that can happen or change just depending on when cautions fall, who has those cautions, and just how the strategy plays out. We’ll try to advance forward in Stage 1, but we understand that Stage 2 is our place to try and score some stage points, and then obviously kind of re-rack and then see where we’re at in Stage 3.

“We kind of hope that scoring enough points, we could separate ourselves from Alex by Stage 2. But obviously, just how things have gone, that’s going to be more difficult.”

The current NASCAR playoff standings have Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman holding on to the final playoff spots (15th and 16th). 14 drivers have clinched a spot in the playoffs, and Pockrass said that Reddick is in if he can finish ninth or better. That could be a little challenging since Reddick will start the Daytona race in 27th place, while Bowman will be in second.

Tyler Reddick is still looking for his first win of the 2025 season

Reddick was hoping to take a big step forward in 2025 after a strong 2024 season. The 29-year-old won three races last year, which led to him winning the NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season championship and finishing fourth in the final Cup points standings. Reddick has yet to win a race this year but has earned five top-five finishes, including a P2 finish at the Daytona 500.

The pressure was put on Reddick after Austin Dillon won the Richmond race last Saturday. In that race, Reddick was involved in a wreck and could never recover.

“It was pretty much worst-case scenario for us,” Reddick said after the race, via Kelly Crandall of RACER.com. “When you have a Toyota Camry as fast as ours is, you need to score the points. The 48 (Bowman) scored a lot of points, and the 3 (Dillon) won. So, all in all, it was pretty much a worst-case scenario. Yeah, we can thank Daniel Suárez for that.”
