Trey Hendrickson will always be a Bengals legend, even if things didn’t end well for his playing career in Cincinnati.

But at his best, there were few, if any, edge rushers who struck more fear in opposing quarterbacks and left tackles than Hendrickson. His ability to quickly get off the edge and smother opposing quarterbacks would make opposing left tackles look silly and completely lost on the field.

This offseason, Hendrickson signed an offseason contract with the Baltimore Ravens, meaning the Bengals will face him twice this season. Still, though, Hendrickson is forever indebted to Cincinnati.

It shows in a recent donation he made to Ted Karras’s Cincy Hat Foundation: $250,000. It all started with Karras tweeting about Hendrickson signing with the Ravens, saying: “Only way we forgive Trey is if he donates $1M to The Cincy Hat Foundation.”

Again, it may not have worked out, but Hendrickson still has a ton of admiration for the Bengals and the organization.

“Ted’s tweet may have helped kick this one off, but Alisa and I are truly proud to support The Cincy Hat Foundation and the incredible work Ted continues to do for adults with disabilities. Regardless of where I play, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to support the impact The Cincy Hat is making for families,” Hendrickson said in a press release.

This is really cool to see. Hendrickson seems like a really good guy off the field. He and his wife, Alisa, are really good people in the community.

“Trey has been a great friend and teammate as well as an exceptional player for us for many years. Although he has moved on to our bitter rival, his generous donation will forever help house adults with disabilities in Cincinnati. I’m incredibly grateful to Trey and his wife, Alisa. We will see you on Sunday,” Karras said in the release.

It will be very interesting to see when the Bengals and Ravens play next season, as there will be some revenge on the line as well as high stakes in the AFC North. Let’s just hope it’s not on a Thursday night in Baltimore… again.
