What it is
The third annual Galleri Classic, an event on the PGA Tour Champions, features a strong field for the 50-and-over circuit. It will be played on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
Who is playing
Almost all of the top players on the PGA Tour Champions are in the 78-player field at Mission Hills. That includes defending champion Retief Goosen, who won the event by one shot over Steven Alker, who is also back in the field after finishing second each of the first two years and who is the reigning tour player of the year. Steve Stricker, the 2023 tour player of the year and 18-time tour winner, is also entered as is 2023 Galleri champion David Toms. Major champions in the field include Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, John Daly, Stewart Cink, Darren Clarke, Lee Janzen, Mark O’Meara, Jose Maria Olazabal, Corey Pavin, Jeff Sluman, Mike Weir and Y.E. Yang. Other top players include Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Rocco Mediate, Notah Begay and Joe Durant.
When
The 54-hole tournament begins Friday, March 28 and runs through Sunday, March 30. Two one-day pro-ams will be played Wednesday and Thursday (March 26-27).
Purse
The professionals are playing for $2.2 million, with the winner taking home $330,000.
Television
All three rounds will be broadcast by Golf Channel. Friday’s coverage will be on tape delay from 7 to 9 p.m. PST, with Saturday’s coverage live from noon to 3 p.m. and Sunday’s coverage live from noon to 3 p.m.
How it works
Play in the 54-hole professional event will be Friday through Sunday, with no cut for the 78-player field. The two one-day pro-ams will be played Wednesday and Thursday. Tee times for the pro-am begin at 7 a.m. on the first and 10th tees of the course, with the afternoon wave starting at 11:30 a.m. Tee times in the 54-hole event will run from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on the first and 10th tees of the course.
Tickets
The Galleri Classic features daily and weekly grounds tickets (from March 26-30) for $30 and $65, respectively, and clubhouse tickets (only for competition rounds March 28-30) for $75 per day and $150 for the week. Tickets can only be secured online at www.TheGalleriClassic.com.
The Galleri Classic offers free daily grounds tickets to youths 15 and under and U.S. military members. Each youth will receive a daily grounds ticket (from March 26-30) when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Veterans, active, reserve, and retired military personnel are eligible for free daily grounds tickets for themselves and up to two guests when a valid military ID is shown upon entry at the tournament’s admissions gate.
The Champions Club on 18 provides The Galleri Classic’s all-inclusive ticket option featuring food and full bar service. The Champions Club offers patrons an exclusive, covered, open-air venue next to the 18th green and Poppie’s Pond, with an up-close view of the 10th tee. Day-specific Champions Club tickets (good only during competition rounds March 28-30) can be secured for $350 per day, or Weekly Champions Club tickets (good March 28-30) are available for $1,050.
Parking
All general parking for the event will be at a lot located at 675 Crossley Road in Palm Springs, just south of Ramon Road. Daily spectator parking for The Galleri Classic is $10. Fans may purchase tickets online in advance or purchase day-of parking onsite for an additional fee. Parking passes are not included with your ticket purchase. Shuttles will run from the parking lot to the tournament main entrance on a loop for a 10-minute direct shuttle ride. ADA accessible shuttles are available and will operate daily.
Cell phone policy
The PGA Tour has adopted a policy that allows fans to bring their cell phone onto the course during play. Cell phones must be set to silent (vibrate) and may be used in designated mobile device areas. Cell phones may not be used for photography or video.
Bag policy
No bags larger than 6″x6″ (including carrying cases, backpacks, camera bags, or chair bags) are permitted through the gates. No clear, plastic, vinyl, or other carry items larger than 12″x6″x12″ are permitted through the gates.
Suggestions for viewing
Front nine
The area behind the first green gives fans access to the first hole, the second tee, the sixth green, the seventh tee and the ninth fairway.
Back nine
The area behind the 11th green provides viewing of the 11th hole, the 12th tee, the 16th fairway and green and the par-3 17th hole. Grandstands will surround the famed island green on the 18th hole.
