If golf is a part of your social media algorithm, you’ve probably noticed that golf-themed hosting is a total thing. From the outfits to the munchies to the decor, leaning heavily into themes of all kinds is very trendy of late, and golf is a popular pick. Case in point: I recently attended a mother-son “Par-Tee” at my kids’ school. The attire was country-club chic, and mini golf was one of the featured activities. I felt right at home!
With the Masters on the horizon, golf-themed hosting content really kicks into high gear. The Masters is fully aware of its allure on this front, which is why its hosting kits sell out immediately every year. But if you’re having guests over for a Masters watch party this year — or simply want to have a golf-themed gathering at any future date — I recently had the chance to test what I now believe to be the ultimate centerpiece/accessory/necessity for a golf party: FUNBOY’s Golf Cart pool float.
News
I know what you may be thinking: I don’t have a pool. I don’t live where it’s pool weather right now. That’s ok! These floats are not only excellent at fulfilling their purpose as actual floats, but they can also function as fun centerpieces or focal points for your golf-themed event. I recently took both the pool float lounger and the floating drink cooler for a spin and thought they were fantastic.
Here’s what I loved about them.
Easy inflation
With two young kids in the house, this is not my first pool-float rodeo. We’ve had a number over the years, ranging from simple ring-style tubes to a “rescue boat,” which was a favorite for several seasons. That boat was a huge pain to inflate, though. With seven different (and small) air chambers to fill, it was slow-going, even with an electric pump.
The FunBoy floats have no such issues. The chamber number is minimal, the nozzles are large and an electric air pump does the job fast. I timed the process, and it was under two minutes for each float. That’s huge!
A winning look
The green-and-white color scheme is perfect for golf parties — and especially appropriate for anything Masters-related. But there are other color combos available, too. Both the large float and the floating cooler come with removable mesh sunshades with a fun fringe border, giving them some sophisticated, retro flair.
Major capacity
If you’re using the float as an actual float, as I did, it has impressive capacity. It’s designed to comfortably fit two adults, which I believe, because four children ranging from age 2 to 10 managed to board the float at once without issue. There’s also an included rope tether to keep the float in place, and two reinforced cupholders.
The float’s rubber feels very durable. My kids went a bit wild on it and we didn’t have any deflation problems. One thing to keep in mind, though: If the float tips over and the sunshade gets wet, it will weigh down the roof support and need to come off. We were using the float in the evening, so the sunshade wasn’t necessary. But if you’re using the float as intended — to float — and not as a ninja obstacle course like my kids, this won’t be an issue!
Multi-use
With the kids thrashing around in the water, I decided to move the cooler to a poolside table and realized it also functions well as a super fun centerpiece, especially with the fringe sunshade. Max capacity: a 12-pack, plus ice. I didn’t pack the cooler out with 12 beverages, but I did fill it with a 16-lb. bag of ice
The big float, too, has a ton of potential as a party showpiece if you don’t want to put it in the water. I’m imagining a whole pimento cheese-focused charcuterie on display … I mean, why not? Dreamy!
The bottom line: Even if you don’t have a pool, these floats are surefire conversation-starters — and destined to be the stars of your next golf-themed party. Shop for your favorite via the links below.
