The fame that Tiger Woods has garnered over his many years as one of the world’s top golfers does come with its drawbacks. After the 15-time major winner was involved in a rollover crash Friday, then arrested and charged with a DUI, his latest mugshot quickly made the rounds on social media.

Less than two days later, that same mugshot can be seen on several T-shirts, worn by fans at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, with the words “#FreeTiger” underneath.

Woods, 50, is no stranger to fans repping his mugshots. Following a 2017 DUI arrest, Woods’ mugshot was used similarly on shirts and signs at PGA Tour events.

What happened with Tiger Woods on Friday?

Woods was involved in a rollover crash, and when authorities arrived, they determined Woods was impaired. He was transported to Martin County Jail, where he remained until Friday night. Although Woods passed a breathalyzer test at the facility, he refused to take a urine test, which got him arrested on suspicion of DUI, property damage and refusal to submit a lawful test.

Has Woods made any statement since?

Woods has yet to make a statement following the accident. Woods had just participated in the TGL Finals following a year hiatus thanks to Achilles injury in March 2025 and a back surgery in October that year. There had been speculation that Woods might participate at the 2026 Masters Tournament – set to start on April 9 – though his status for Augusta National is now unclear.

Photos show aftermath of Tiger Woods rollover crash in Florida

Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence after a car crash in Florida on Friday, March 27, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said. Woods and the other driver involved in the two-car crash were not injured. Photos release by Martin County Sheriff’s Office show the scene of the crash.

Have other golfers received similar ‘mugshot’ treatment?

Though not a DUI, fans at the 2024 PGA Championship famously wore Scottie Scheffler’s mugshot during the tournament after the golfer got into an altercation with a police officer ahead of the tournament’s second round. He was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals.

Scheffler took the incident in stride though, and the altercation was even joked about during Scheffler’s appearance in 2025’s Happy Gilmore 2, where Scheffler throws a hockey punch against a rival golfer and is taken away in handcuffs before saying “Oh no, not again.”
