The Phoenix Suns acquired Dillon Brooks as part of the Kevin Durant trade, and on the surface, many of us viewed him primarily as salary filler. Then we witnessed the profound effect he had on the culture and direction of the team last season.

With Brooks entering the final year of his contract, it became important for the Suns to work with him on an extension and ensure that he remained part of what they are building. That extension officially came through Wednesday evening, as Phoenix agreed to a three-year, $73 million deal with Brooks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
