Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Standard Liege are closing in on the signing of Dimitri Lavalée from Sturm Graz. The former KV Mechelen and Sint Truiden defender will return to the club where he started his career, only making eight appearances before leaving in 2020 to join Mainz 05. Lavalée is set to sign a two-year contract with Standard Liege, with the sides having agreed an optionally third year.
Lavalée didn’t make a single appearance for Mainz 05, instead spending the one and a half seasons on loan with Sint Truiden, playing 44 games. In 2022 he left Germany and joined KV Mechelen, where he played one season, the 2022/2023 campaign. After 29 appearances he left Belgium for Sturm Graz, where he has been since 2023. Lavalée leaves Sturm Graz to return to Standard Liege after making 98 appearances for the Austrian side, with three goals.
Standard Liege are poised to have a busy summer as they look to try and qualify for European football next season.
