Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry isn’t eligible for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame just yet … but he’s going to be honored by the establishment anyway. Curry will become the first-ever current player to receive his own exhibit at the Hall of Fame, it announced Tuesday.
The exhibit, titled “Stephen Curry: Beyond the Arc,” will focus on — of course — Curry’s prowess from 3-point land. Fans hoping to see the exhibit won’t have to wait long, as it opens July 24.
The exhibit is quite the honor, as no other current player has ever received an experience at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. There are probably a few reasons for that, one of which being the Hall perhaps doesn’t want to highlight a player not currently enshrined.

While that’s technically the case for Curry, he’s essentially a shoo-in to be inducted on the first ballot. As the Hall’s tweet states, few players in the current era have ” inspired a generation” like Curry.
The sharpshooter is the all-time leader in 3-pointers made and attempted. He’s also the all-time leader in free-throw percentage, sitting at 91%. In addition to that, he’s a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection, two-time scoring champ, two-time MVP and four-time champion. That résumé screams first-ballot Hall of Famer … it’s not really a question.
In order for Curry to actually receive that honor, he’ll need to wait until he’s been out of the game for five seasons. It could be some time before that happens. While Curry is 38, he’s still playing at a high level, as evidenced by his 26.6 points per game last season. He could conceivably have multiple years left before he decides to hang it up.

Until then, Curry will have to just settle for having his own exhibit in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, a win-win scenario for a legendary player still producing at an elite level.
