Billed as “The Fight,” it was later renamed “The War” after Hagler and Hearns competed in the three greatest rounds in boxing history.

“Marvelous” Marvin Hagler was a force in the middleweight division. Hearns successfully moved up several weight classes and won gold. The two were part of “The Four Kings,” with many hoping they would face one another for years. When they did in 1985, they delivered.

The opening bell saw a slugfest, with Hagler and Hearns not letting up the entire first round. There were over 100 punches landed in the frantic first three minutes — 56 by Hearns, 50 by Hagler. It was revealed that Hearns broke his hand in that round. The pace kept up in round two, though Hearns was the one to slow down. Round three saw Hearns fall face-first onto the canvas, with Hagler coming out victorious.
