Skoda sent two of its own employees on a 936-kilometer (582-mile) drive from Mladá Boleslav, Czechia, to Zandvoort, Netherlands, on a single charge. The car did not stop once.

The Peaq 90, the automaker’s flagship electric SUV, made the run under supervision from TÜV SÜD, a technical services organization founded in Germany that now operates globally. Skoda calls it a driving range world record for seven-seat electric SUVs.

The Skoda electric SUV platform underpins the Peaq 90 that made the trip, and Skoda kept the car close to showroom spec. The only change was a sealed-off charging port flap, meant to keep the seal tight and shave a fraction off drag.

That matters because the Peaq 90 is not a stripped, aero-wheeled show car built only to chase a headline. It rode on its factory drag coefficient of 0.249, with its rear motor producing 282 horsepower untouched.

Skoda’s crew averaged 9.2 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers over the whole route, roughly half the consumption of a typical three-row electric SUV even when driven gently. The Peaq 90’s 91 kWh battery, 86 kWh of it usable, was drawn down to almost empty to cover the 582 miles without a single charging stop.

The distance blew past Skoda’s own WLTP rating of 647 kilometers (402 miles) by 289 kilometers (180 miles), or 45 percent. That kind of gap is possible only when every decision favors efficiency over speed, comfort, and time.

Hypermiling Conditions And TÜV SÜD Oversight

None of this happened at highway speed with the AC running and four kids in the back. Skoda planned the route, kept speeds low, and drove for efficiency the whole way, the same hypermiling approach that let the brand’s own Superb set a fuel efficiency record using similar tactics.

TÜV SÜD’s supervision gives the number credibility beyond a marketing claim, but it does not change what a family hauling gear on I-95 at 75 mph will see. The Department of Energy has long noted that speed, climate control, and payload all cut into an electric vehicle’s real-world range, sometimes sharply.

For context, the Kia EV9, the closest thing to a three-row electric SUV rival sold in the US, carries an EPA range in the low to mid 300-mile bracket with its available 99.8 kWh battery. Hyundai’s new Ioniq 9 three-row SUV in the US is rated up to 335 miles, and the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV tops out around 317 miles, so none of them comes close to a TÜV-verified 582-mile hypermiling run.

The Peaq is not available in the US market, and Skoda reports that orders climbed into the high four-figure range in Europe. The Peaq 90 starts at 1,150,000 Czech korunas (about $55,100) there.
