ESPN’s Shams Charania has reported that the Sixers will be trading Johni Broome and a second-round pick to the LA Clippers for cash considerations. The team has since confirmed the trade.
Details of that second-round pick have come from Jake Fischer of the Stein Line, who says that the pick will be the second-most favorable of the three 2027 second-round picks the Sixers own, so they’ll keep the best of the three.
This was one of two moves the Sixers needed to make in order to sign LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope while staying under the first apron. After waiving Dalen Terry a couple of days ago, the Sixers, roster appears to be now set at 14 players on standard deals.

Broome, the No. 35 overall pick back in 2026, wasn’t able to show much in limited opportunities during his rookie season. He played just 11 games in the NBA and tore his meniscus. In those few games he averaged 0.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in five minutes a game. He played three games in Summer League and averaged 14.6 points along with nine rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Instead of cutting Jabari Walker, whose contract is only partially guaranteed ($250k) until Jan. 10, the team opted to find a way to dump Broome before his second season in the league.
That should just about conclude the offseason for the Sixers. With 14 players reportedly signed to standard deals and two two-way slots filled, they have just one more available two-way spot.
