Dustin Wolf won the rookie battle against Macklin Celebrini to help the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.

San Jose got goals from Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli. Alexandar Georgiev made 33 saves as the Sharks losing streak extended to five.

Nazem Kadri, Kevin Rooney, and Joel Hanley scored for the Flames as Calder Trophy hopeful Wolf made 27 saves for his 20th win of the season.

The Sharks’ last ten games have been 1-8-‘1. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky implemented new systems during the week of practice following the Four Nations Face-Off break.

Sharks Bringing New Systems To Calgary Against Flames Alexandar Georgiev will start the first game after the 4 Nations Face-Off break for the San Jose Sharks against the Calgary Flames. 

The bench boss asked his team to compete and skate, and he got it. In a hard-fought game, the last-place NHL team competed with a surprising playoff hopeful.

Timothy Liljegren left the game in the second period and didn’t return. The defenseman played just 11:21.

Macklin Celebrini gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead with his rookie-leading 18th goal of the season just 3:41 into the first period. Tyler Toffoli got the 18-year-old a terrific pass in front of the net.

Nazem Kadri tied the game 1-1 for the Flames at 7:27 of the first period.

Kevin Rooney capitalized on a weird bounce in front of Georgiev’s net to give the Flames a 2-1 lead 3:35 into the second period.

Toffoli got his second point of the game with a game-tying goal 1:54 into the second period.

After some questionable penalty calls, Hanley put the Flames up 3-2 with a 4 on 4 goal.
