The NASCAR Cup Series competed at Watkins Glen International and it turned into a good show. Ross Chastain won Stage 1 while Shane van Gisbergen won Stage 2; however, only one of the two Trackhouse Racing drivers could enter victory lane. At the end of the day, an outstanding drive by one of the drivers put them in the winner’s circle.
Van Gisbergen and the No. 97 team for Trackhouse Racing won the Go Bowling At The Glen at Watkins Glen, earning their first victory of the 2026 Cup Series season. The driver of the No. 97 car passed Ty Gibbs and Connor Zilisch with under 10 laps to go after pitting for fuel and tires.
Gibbs and Zilisch stayed out, leaving van Gisbergen to be on the offense at a road course. Van Gisbergen not only flew past everyone on old tires, but he also beat Michael McDowell by seven seconds. The greatness of van Gisbergen on road courses was on full display, and with two left in 2026, he will look to maximize them.
