Serena Williams’ return to the tennis court continues at the Berlin Open.
Williams played in her first tournament post-retirement last week, when she joined Victorio Mboko as a doubles team at the Queen’s Club. However, Mboko injured herself in a singles match and forced the pair to withdraw from the tournament after winning just one match.
Now, Williams is back with a new partner, as she and Karolina Muchova have paired up for a team at the Berlin Open. The 29-year-old Muchova has had a pretty successful career, but she is still in search of that first grand slam title.
On Tuesday, the duo will take on Erin Routliffe and Giuliana Olmos, a pair that is more known for their doubles performances in their tennis careers. Routliffe, specifically, has two grand slam doubles titles, both coming at the U.S. Open, while Olmos has multiple doubles tournament victories herself.
The Berlin Open doubles tournament features four rounds, with this match being Williams and Muchova’s opener. If they do win, they would move into the quarterfinals of the event.
