Keith Thurman attempts to hold gold once again as the veteran takes on WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora on October 25.
Fundora (23-1-1) beat Erickson Lubin in 2022 for interim WBC gold. After losing the belt against Brian Mendoza, “The Towering Inferno” beat Tim Tszyu in a bloody affair to win the WBC and WBO titles. He vacated the WBO belt to face and beat Tszyu again.
The 27-year-old is ready to continue his reign and cement his legacy by taking down a game Thurman.
“Keith was one of the pound-for-pound best, but it’s time for a new champion, and I believe I can be the face of this sport. I can’t wait for fight night, and we’ll see you in the ring on October 25,” Fundora said.

A former WBA and WBC welterweight champion, Thurman (31-1) beat Mario Barrios in 2022 after taking a few years off due to injury. It took him almost three years to return, beating Brock Jarvis in March.
Moving in weight, “One Time” will have a disadvantage in height, reach, and age. Still, the 36-year-old believes he has a lot left in the tank.
“I’m about to conquer Mount Everest himself. They call him ‘The Towering Inferno’, but I’ve been in the fire. This is what I live for right here. This is the top of the sport,” Thurman said.
“Once I get the WBC title, people won’t have a reason to say no to a Keith Thurman fight. I’ve been waiting through the setbacks. With the truly great champions, you can’t stop them from becoming champion once again.”
