The Seattle Seahawks returned to the practice field for opening day of 2026 training camp. For Seahawks fans, this was their first opportunity to watch the team in-person since the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots back in February. While the early days of training camp tend to be light on anything super physical without pads, it’s still a tasty morsel for fans to savor before padded practices and eventually preseason games.
Here’s a recap of opening day!

Seahawks training camp news and notes
No one additional goes to injury lists
Deven Eastern, Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh, and Nick Emmanwori are currently on the PUP list. Charbonnet and McIntosh are recovering from ACL tears that book-ended last season, while Emmanwori is recovering from ankle surgery. Eastern’s injury status was not clarified during Mike Macdonald’s press conference.
The good news is that no one else joined them on PUP or found themselves on the NFI (non-football injury) list.
Tory Horton is back!
The dynamic wide receiver missed the back-end of last season with a shin injury, which went from seemingly minor to season-ending. With surgery out of the way and rehab going smoothly, Horton was a full-go at practice, which is a huge sign for himself and Seattle’s overall wide receiver group.

Hard Knocks is filming!
The HBO series has finally come for the Seahawks, and if you were at Day 1 of training camp, smile and tell everyone you’re famous.
Devon Witherspoon practices even amid contract negotiations
It’s not uncommon to see players who are seeking contract extensions either stage a hold-out (don’t report to camp and incur a fine) or a hold-in (report to camp and don’t practice). In the case of star cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who has two years left on his contract, his ongoing extension talks with the front office won’t deter him from getting onto the field.
Mike Macdonald quotes
Why Dante Fowler Jr didn’t practice
“He’s really worked hard this offseason. He’s in really good shape. Today was a little more precautionary thing but he’ll be back out tomorrow and we got a plan for him.”
Nick Emmanwori’s ankle injury and subsequent surgery
“So it’s the ankle from the Super Bowl and I think the best way to describe it is was something that he’s been dealing with since the Super Bowl. He was able to perform, able to train and do some things in the offseason program, but just got to the point where it was the best for him and really just for him in the long term just to go ahead and get it fixed, so that’s what we all decided to do.
“So, it’s really the best thing for him for now and the foreseeable future, you know, for the rest of his career. […] We don’t have a necessarily a timetable. It’s not like we lost him for the season or anything.”
Kenny McIntosh’s return timetable unknown
“Kenny’s doing a great job. No timetable [yet]. You know, that was a tough injury and I know we’re going on almost a year now, but uh that was a really unfortunate injury for for Kenny Mac. But he’s right there. He’s rehabbing. He’s working hard.”
Whether he’s spoken to the new ownership group
“Well, we haven’t had much interaction yet, and really everything is about the same as it’s been. I mean, nothing’s really changed on on our front, nor will it for the foreseeable future. So, that’s really how we’re approaching everything. We had great great visits with all the folks that were here.
“I think the best way to describe my mentality, I’m just really excited to get going. I think we’re really thankful for Jody [Allen] and the things that her and the rest of the ownership group did, especially since I’ve been here, it’s been fantastic. Hopefully the rest of the 12s feel the same way, as they should, and now we’re entering a new chapter in our organization’s history and so that I think that’s a cause for excitement as well.”
