The PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson Classic came and went this weekend with Scottie Scheffler lapping the competition en route to a big win at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Scheffler finished at 31-under on the day as he beat out second place finisher Erik van Rooyen and the rest of the field to score one of his biggest victories in recent memory.
Scheffler’s round drew the attention of a Pro Football Hall-of-Famer who took to his X account to share his thoughts on the pro golfer’s incredible round.
“The disrespect Scheffler is showing this course ain’t right!” Hall-of-Famer and former Packers/Raiders legend Charles Woodson wrote.
“The Machine is at it again @PGATour.”
Scheffler’s 63 round on Sunday tied the 72-hole low mark first set by Justin Thomas at the 2017 Sony Open and again by Ludvig Aberg at the 2023 RSM Classic.
Scheffler notched four straight birdies and capped his round off with a 20-foot eagle on the par five ninth hole.
Three more birdies put him at 32-under prior to the PGA star finishing at 31-under for the tournament.
Scheffler said he kept a hungry mindset on the course that helped him to stay strong throughout the weekend’s action.
“I never really felt like my lead was too comfortable,” Scheffler said. “I always tried to keep pushing, hitting good shots.”
