It was an incredible weekend of golf at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina. The second major of the 2025 season wrapped up Sunday with a familiar name sitting comfortably atop the leaderboard.

Scottie Scheffler claimed the title by five strokes, finishing the weekend at 11-under. Despite posting his worst round of the tournament on Sunday, he ran away with the victory. The win earned Scheffler a hefty $3.42 million in prize money.

This latest win comes a year after two major life events: the birth of Scheffler’s first child, Bennett, and his highly publicized arrest during the 2024 PGA Championship in Louisville. While the charges were eventually dropped, the past year has been both emotional and extraordinarily successful for the 28-year-old.

After the final putt, the PGA Tour’s official social media account posted a heartfelt photo featuring Scottie with his son and father, captioned simply:

“Proud dad”

Scott Scheffler, Scottie’s father, didn’t hold back when expressing his feelings after the win.

“Words can’t describe what we just watched,” Scott Scheffler posted. “You are the toughest guy and sweetest boy. I’m so proud of you. Thank you for never giving up.”

Scottie Scheffler’s latest major adds to his growing legacy. He now has two legs of the career Grand Slam, having won the Masters in 2022 and 2024 and now the PGA Championship. He has finished runner-up at the U.S. Open and placed seventh at The Open Championship, but is still chasing titles in those majors.

In total, Scheffler now has 20 professional wins and has held the world No. 1 ranking for 139 weeks, an impressive stretch that shows no signs of slowing down.

He was paired with Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele to open the tournament. Schauffele finished tied for 28th while McIlroy stumbled to a T47 finish.

Harris English, Bryson DeChambeau and Davis Riley shared second place at Quail Hollow, while Taylor Pendrith, Jhonattan Vegas and J.T. Poston all tied for fifth.

The next major on the calendar is the U.S. Open, where DeChambeau will look to defend his title. The tournament tees off June 12 at Oakmont Country Club in Corinth, Texas.
