Scottie Scheffler wrapped up his stay in Scotland with a final-round 67 at the Genesis Scottish Open, finishing tied for eighth at 9-under. The performance marked yet another steady showing in what’s been one of the most consistent runs in recent PGA Tour history.

Scheffler didn’t quite dominate the leaderboard the way fans have come to expect, but once again, he proved why he’s the top-ranked golfer in the world.

Despite tricky conditions and high winds at The Renaissance Club, Scheffler notched his 15th straight top-25 finish of the season. Even more impressive, 10 of those results have been top-10 placements.

The PGA Tour made the news official with a post on X, confirming, “With a T8 finish at the Genesis Scottish Open, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has now finished inside the top 25 in all 15 starts this season, including 10 consecutive top-10 finishes.”

While Scheffler remains hard on himself, his performance in Scotland offers plenty of reasons for optimism heading into the season’s final major.

“I feel like I’m really close. I was almost playing some really good golf out there,” Scheffler said after his round. “I just need to build some momentum and spend more time on the course.”

That confidence will be key as Scheffler prepares for The Open Championship at Royal Portrush. He’s expected to be among the betting favorites, though the competition is heating up.

Rory McIlroy reminded the golf world that he’s still a major threat. The four-time major champion finished in a tie for second at 13-under, just two shots behind winner Chris Gotterup. It was a strong tune-up for McIlroy, who will be chasing his second Open Championship title.

Gotterup picked up breakthrough win, becoming the sixth American to win the Scottish Open. The victory also secured his spot in The Open, giving him a chance to ride that momentum into another high-profile event.

With Scheffler’s streak intact and McIlroy surging, the stage is ready for a compelling showdown at Portrush.

The field is shaping up to be loaded with talent, and fans can expect high drama as golf’s best fight for the Claret Jug. While others may be chasing titles, Scheffler is chasing a perfect season of consistency, and The Open is his next chance to turn that into something even bigger.
