The Memorial Tournament: Nicklaus reflects on 1977 Memorial victory
The Memorial Tournament: Jack Nicklaus reflects on 1977 Memorial victory during June 4, 2024 news conference
The top money earner on the PGA Tour is skipping this week’s Memorial Tournament.
Rory McIlroy, who has won nearly $14 million this year, will not be at the Muirfield Village Golf Club for the first time since 2017.
But the rest of the money leaders are in the 72-player field, a group led by Scottie Scheffler, who won the event last year.
Scheffler has also picked up eight figures in earnings on the Tour this year and would surpass McIlroy as the top active earner if he repeats in Dublin. The winner is slated to earn $4 million, part of the total purse of $20 million. He currently trails McIlroy by about $3.4 million.
Twenty-four of the top 25 money leaders are playing in the Memorial.
