Saugerties won the Larry Johnson boys golf tournament by one stroke over Rhinebeck in a four-way match held at the Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland.

The Sawyers shot 158 to the Hawks’ 159, with the match coming down to the final foursome. Rondout Valley (172) and Onteora (176) rounded out the field.

Saugerties was led by Ty Monroe and Kate Smith, each of whom shot 2-over-par 38. Rhinebeck’s Damian Haasg and James Jacox each shot 39. HoKai Liu of Rondout Valley also shot 38.

The Larry Johnson tournament brings in the top four division leaders from the Mid-Hudson Athletic League – that circuit plays a fall schedule (the Orange County league conducts a spring schedule).

Many of these same golfers have qualified for the 2026 Section 9 boys golf championships to be held next May.
