Sam Burns will take a two-shot lead into Sunday’s final round of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale as he searches for his first career major championship and his first PGA Tour victory in more than three years.

Burns sits at 10-under par through 54 holes. His last victory came in March 2023.
Ryan Fox and Si Woo Kim are tied for second at 8 under, while Ryan Gerard and Lucas Herbert are tied for fourth at 7 under. Ludvig Åberg, Bryson DeChambeau and Jackson Suber are all tied for sixth at 6 under, leaving Sunday’s final round wide open.
Fox delivered one of the greatest rounds in major championship history on Saturday. He fired an 8-under 62, vaulting 50 spots up the leaderboard and earning a spot in Sunday’s final pairing with Burns.
Fox’s 62 tied the lowest round ever recorded in a major championship. Ironically, it marked the third round of 62 at Royal Birkdale this week, joining Burns and Herbert, who both posted 62s during Friday’s second round.

With several players within striking distance and history already made throughout the week, Sunday’s final round promises to be a compelling finish at Royal Birkdale.
