The Saints placed rookie safety Lorenzo Styles Jr. on injured reserve Tuesday.
The team needed the roster spot after claiming cornerback Decamerion Richardson off waivers.
Styles injured his calf in the second preseason game.

He will miss at least the first four games before returning.
The Saints selected Styles with the 172nd overall pick out of Ohio State. He recorded 30 tackles and two pass breakups in 12 games for the Buckeyes last season, while also returning a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.
