Talladega Superspeedway is Ryan Blaney’s best track. The Team Penske driver has won three times in 21 NASCAR Cup Series races, or more there than anywhere else.

Bubba Wallace has fond memories of the 2.66-mile track as well. He recorded his first career Cup win at the circuit in 2021.

On Sunday, both drivers will be seeking their first wins of the 2025 campaign at the superspeedway.

During Fox’s pre-race show, fans learned that both drivers have been in town since Friday, but not always at the race track. The two friends made the less than hour trip west to Birmingham to take in some UFL action.

While Blaney visited with Fox’s Jamie Little about the trip, the broadcast showed both the Team Penske driver and Wallace attempting 20-yard field goals at the game. Blaney was successful. The 23XI Racing driver wasn’t even close.

“Yeah, watched the Stallions play,” Blaney said. “It was my first UFL game. So I appreciate it.”

“How about that?” Little said as the No. 12 driver’s kick sailed up and through the uprights.

“Yeah. You know, 20-yarder good. I know it’s not impressive,” he said as the broadcast then shifted to Wallace’s attempt, which didn’t get more than a few feet off of the ground. “And that’s definitely not impressive by Darrell. If we were talking athletes over here, I think that just is the sealed deal.”

For years NASCAR drivers have been asked the question about whether or not they are athletes. Based on Blaney’s performance Friday night and his remarks, he is an athlete and his good buddy is not.
