The fourth and final major of the year is set to begin Thursday at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, as The Open Championship returns for a homecoming of sorts for world No. 2 Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy previously won the tournament in 2014, and when it last took place at Royal Portrush in 2019, his close friend Shane Lowry captured the victory while setting the course record in the third round.

Now, with the first round starting Thursday, McIlroy—who tied for second last weekend at the Genesis Scottish Open—has arrived at the course in style, debuting his new haircut from last week along with his Masters green jacket, which drew plenty of attention on Tuesday.

McIlroy will undoubtedly be a fan favorite throughout the weekend as he continues his search for his first victory since winning the Masters back in April.

He admitted that when he returned to his homeland for the 2019 Open, he wasn’t fully prepared emotionally, which led to a difficult start in the tournament.

Now, coming off a stellar performance last weekend, he appears ready to capture his second major title of the year and his second Open Championship victory.

“It’s been an amazing year,” McIlroy said. “The fact that I’m here at Portrush with the Green Jacket, having completed that lifelong dream, I want to do my best this week to enjoy everything that comes my way—the reaction of the fans and playing in front of them. But at the same time, I want to win this golf tournament, and I feel like I’m very capable of doing that.”
