Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano are two of the most iconic fighters in MMA history. The trailblazers come out of retirement to face off on May 16.

The fight, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions, will take place at the Intuit Dome.

Rousey (12-2) was a champion with Strikeforce and the first UFC bantamweight champion. The multi-time medalist in judo brought the UFC and the women’s division to new heights. Her MMA career ended following brutal knockout losses against Holly Holm (2015) and Amanda Nunes (2016).

The Hall of Famer transitioned to WWE following her MMA career and has also appeared in films like “Furious 7,” “Entourage,” and more. Now back in the cage, Rousey looks to return to her former glory.

“Been waiting so long to announce this: Me and Gina Carano are gonna throw down in the biggest super fight in women’s combat sport history… This is for all MMA fans past, present and future,” Rousey said.

Carano (7-1) was considered a true pioneer in women’s MMA. The 43-year-old fought Julie Kedzie in what was the first female televised fight on Showtime. She lost against Cris Cyborg in her last fight in 2009 for the Strikeforce featherweight title.

Carano began acting following her run in the cage, appearing in “Fast & Furious 6,” “Deadpool,” and “The Mandalorian.” Now, she’s ready to end a 17-year retirement on a high note.

“Ronda came to me and said there is only one person she would make a comeback for, and it has been her dream to make this fight happen between us,” said Carano. “She thanked me for opening up doors for her in her career and was respectful in asking for this fight to happen.

“This is an honor. I believe I will walk out of this fight with the win, and I anticipate it will not come easy, which I welcome. This is as much for Ronda and me as it is for the fans and mixed martial arts community. What a time to be alive.”

Meanwhile, former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou returns to action. Ngannou (18-3), considered the lineal heavyweight champion, last competed in MMA in 2024. The former PFL fighter has also fought in boxing matches. 

Ngannou faces former PFL Heavyweight Tournament winner Philipe Lins, currently on a four-fight win streak. Lins (18-5) was released by the UFC in 2024 and was supposed to compete in the GFL.

There are over 4,000 parking spots available surrounding the Intuit Dome. There are three main parking garages: the East, West and Players’ Garages. It is recommended to purchase parking passes in advance for events at the Intuit Dome in order to avoid higher parking rates on site.

Parking lots typically open four hours hours before the start of Clippers games. Specific times for other events can be found on the Intuit Dome website.
