After suffering yet another defeat at the hands of Barcelona, Real Madrid will look to get back to winning ways as they take on RCD Mallorca on Wednesday.
This is a must-win encounter for Los Blancos if they want to remain alive in the title race, although Barcelona have already practically sealed the league title.
Heading into this crucial game, Real Madrid have been handed a boost as one of Mallorca’s key players have been rendered unavailable due to persistent injury.
Robert Navarro ruled out for Real Madrid clash
According to Mundo Deportivo, Mallorca winger Robert Navarro is expected to miss Wednesday’s La Liga clash against Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old trained on the sidelines on Monday and is still recovering from a muscle injury he picked up back in March during a match against Deportivo Alaves.
While early assessments had suggested Navarro could return by early May, his recovery has not gone according to plan. The process has slowed, and coach Jagoba Arrasate is unlikely to risk him at the Bernabeu.
Navarro’s absence is a significant blow for Mallorca, who lack any real creativity going forward, having struggled to score goals this season.
Although a tally of just one goal may paint a different picture, the former Real Sociedad talent has added pace and creativity on the left flank this season.
But with limited attacking options beyond Takuma Asano, Mallorca may struggle to create chances against a Madrid side desperate to bounce back.
Mallorca also had other players missing from Monday’s training session. Abdon Prats and Chiquinho were absent, while Manu Morlanes did return to the field for light exercises.
All of this could play into Real Madrid’s favour as they look to end the season on a positive note after suffering another beating at the hands of Barcelona.
