In what has been a mostly torrid season for Liverpool, Rio Ngumoha’s emergence has been a rare bright spark.

Tonight, he joins Reds’ teen royalty with a start at Aston Villa.

The winger is already the youngest player to score for the club in the Premier League following his winner at Newcastle in the second game of the season, and has now equalled Michael Owen’s record in the second last game of the season.

The 17-year-old is making just his fourth start but given both his performances and those of some of the so-called senior players, it feels like he could have made more.
