As he sets his sights on another successful season on the court, LeBron James is also continuing to make moves off the court in the business world.
Per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James’ entertainment company, SpringHill Company is in merger talks with Fulwell 73, a British television, film and music production company. According to McMenamin, the “combined entity aims to be one of the most important companies in sports content globally” and the merger talks have been ongoing for months.
The two companies sparked interest in one another because of a “shared desire to reach scale across television, film and advertising together.”
James founded SpringHill in 2020 alongside friend and business partner Maverick Carter. The company came to be when SpringHill Entertainment, Uninterrupted and The Robot Co. merged.
The company has produced several movies and television series, including Hustle, Space Jam: A New Legacy and Starting Five, which follows five NBA players (including James) over the course of the season.
Since its founding in 2005, Fulwell 73 has produced shows such as The Kardashians, Carpool Karaoke and the Grammy Awards. The company has also produced a handful of albums. Television host and comedian James Corden joined Fulwell 73 as a partner in 2017.
While James hasn’t given any indication that his basketball career is coming to an end soon, it seems he’ll stay busy once he retires with all of his business ventures.
