Real Madrid finally succeeded in their efforts to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool this past June.
While they could have roped him on a free transfer at the end of his contract in July, the Merengues opted to pay a compensation to Liverpool and fast-tracked his arrival so that he could play at the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, MARCA reports that Real Madrid have zero doubts about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s talent and quality despite his slow start.
Trent showcased glimpses of his quality at the Club World Cup but was unable to make a sustained impact before a minor injury sidelined him from the semi-final defeat vs PSG.
Having recovered, the 26-year-old right-back made his La Liga debut against Osasuna in Real Madrid’s season opener at the Santiago Bernabeu, but was largely underwhelming. It eventually led to him being benched vs Oviedo in the second game.

However, the situation is not seen as a concern by Real Madrid. They are aware that the right-back is gradually settling into the daily rhythm of a team that itself undergoing a process of transformation.
Xabi Alonso knows he can count on two top-class right-backs. Between the former Liverpool star and Carvajal, Real Madrid have guaranteed performance, experience, and ambition. Both are working with the same objective: to ensure the team is the ultimate beneficiary.
At Valdebebas, the belief is that Trent and Carvajal complement one another. They have different attributes, but they share something crucial — a winning mentality.
As such, within the club, there is firm conviction that Trent’s is a landmark signing, for both the present and the future.
Meanwhile, the player’s sole focus now is reaching the required fitness level to overcome the adaptation period to his new team. The Englishman is embracing the challenge of playing for Real Madrid and adjusting to the demands of manager Alonso.
