Golf is a game filled with doors.
Some open because a golfer belongs to the right club. Others open because a friend knows a member. Many never open at all.
The latest Member for a Day auction benefiting the Breakthrough Golf Alliance takes that familiar reality and turns it toward a better purpose. For a few days, access to some remarkable golf experiences can help create access of another kind for talented young players.

The auction features destinations that stretch from Florida, Utah and Colorado to South Carolina, Indiana, Virginia and Mexico. Some are difficult-to-access private clubs. Others are celebrated resort courses that many golfers have spent years hoping to visit.
The common thread is simple: A golfer gets an experience worth remembering, and the net proceeds help young players continue pursuing opportunities their families may not be able to fund alone.

When Access Becomes Useful Currency
The largest package in the auction is a Punta Mita stay-and-play experience for six guests. The listing includes unlimited golf on Jack Nicklaus-designed Pacifico and Bahia, home to the famed “Tail of the Whale” natural island green. The package carries a listed value of $10,000, although bidders should note that the winner is responsible for Punta Mita’s applicable club access fee.

For golfers intrigued by where modern course architecture is headed, there is a member-hosted round for three at Kawonu Golf Club, Andrew Green’s new private creation in South Carolina. Lunch and drinks are included, with booking beginning in June 2027.
The Florida offerings are particularly strong.
A foursome at Dutchman’s Pipe Golf Club provides access to the private Jack Nicklaus design in West Palm Beach. Lunch is included.
A round for four at Streamsong Red brings Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw’s imagination into the mix, while a member-hosted round for three at Sawgrass Country Club offers the chance to experience the former home of The Players Championship.

There is also a foursome at Black Desert Resort, Tom Weiskopf’s final design and a course that has quickly become one of the most recognizable tournament venues in the American West.
That would make a strong auction by itself. It is only part of this one.
Streamsong’s Red Course, one of the country’s best tracks.
The Players Behind the Packages
The Breakthrough Golf Alliance grew out of the Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development, which began in 2010. The organization became an independent 501(c)(3) in early 2025 and adopted its current name and more focused mission that May.

Today, the Alliance supports promising golfers ages 13 and older whose competitive development is being restricted by financial barriers.
The 2026 recipient group includes four individual players: Luz Melendez-Gonzalez, Keishlyan Vega, Ava Saavedra and Brevin Bennett. The Winter Park High School boys golf program is the Alliance’s team recipient.
Their backgrounds are different, but the financial realities surrounding competitive junior golf are remarkably consistent.

Tournament entry fees accumulate. Travel becomes more expensive as the level of competition rises. Practice access, equipment, coaching and opportunities to compete in front of college coaches all require resources.
Golf likes to describe itself as a meritocracy. At the junior level, however, talent does not always receive a fair opportunity to prove itself. Too often, financial capacity determines the schedule long before ability determines the outcome.
That is the gap the Alliance is trying to narrow.

What a Winning Bid Really Buys
The latest auction also includes a two-round, one-night experience for four at Cutalong at Lake Anna in Virginia; a foursome at Colorado’s private Cornerstone Club; and a two-round, one-night French Lick Resort package featuring the Donald Ross and Pete Dye courses.

Each experience has its own booking restrictions, included expenses and scheduling requirements. Those details matter, and every bidder should read the complete listing before participating.
Member for a Day states that 100% of net proceeds from purchases goes to Our Change Foundation, which then grants those funds, less applicable fees, to the benefiting organization identified on the listing.
The model works because it asks golf to contribute something the game already possesses in abundance: access.

A club, resort or member can open a door for one day. The resulting bid can help a young player enter another tournament, travel to a stronger field or reach an opportunity that previously sat just outside the family budget.
One round can create a much longer path forward.

The Doors Are Open, Briefly

The complete auction can be found on the Breakthrough Golf Alliance Member for a Day page.
Golf will probably always have closed doors. Private clubs, exclusive destinations and invitation-only experiences are part of the game’s culture.
For a few days, though, those doors can accomplish something better than signaling exclusivity.
They can become a way through.
