John Rankin believes he has "a blank canvas" after being appointed Airdrieonians head coach.
Airdrie parted with Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, 35, following their relegation to Scottish League 1 via the play-offs and Rankin joins after a short spell as Ayr United interim manager.
Rankin, who made more than 100 appearances as a midfielder for each of Ross County, Hibernian and Dundee United, had a two-and-a-half year spell as Hamilton Academical head coach from 2022-25.
"It's a blank canvas, I think there's only a handful of players," Rankin told Airdrieonians' website. "Everything needs built and that's probably the point where you think you can put your own stamp on it."
