PSG have a strong squad, and aren’t looking to change too much this summer.

There are always tweaks to be made, however, and it seems like one thing the Parisians are looking for is more depth at full back. The Birmingham Mail are today reporting that Aston Villa’s versatile defender Lucas Digne is on their radar.

PSG aim for experienced backup

It’s a somewhat unexpected move, but it does add up. Digne has a release clause in his contract, although it’s not yet clear for how much it is. Villa spent £25m on him in 2022.

Digne spent 3 years at PSG between 2013 and 2016,

The plan would be for him to be not just a backup to Nuno Mendes, but also a strong dressing room presence. His influence in the France squad at the World Cup this summer is apparently a major part of PSG’s interest.

All of this will have to wait until after the World Cup, with Digne expected to go all the way with Les Bleus.

In other news…

Ibrahim Mbaye continues to be on the shortlist of a number of Premier League teams, and PSG may be forced into a sale if the winger really pushes for one.

Gabriel Moscardo has found a new club for the coming season, and PSG will be hoping he impresses and attracts more attention next summer for a potential permanent deal.
