The Rams are a few days away from wrapping up their training camp at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). The team will return to its home site of Woodland Hills on August 6th, in which they will continue practicing with a few joint practices scheduled to take place later against the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. There is still plenty of competition to take place before the Rams whittle down their roster to 53 players but let’s go ahead and predict who is likely to make the team after five training camp practices.
Quarterbacks (3)
Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett, Ty Simpson
No surprises here. Stafford is the franchise quarterback. Stetson Bennett is the only backup with preseason experience. And Ty Simpson is the team’s future. Don’t expect any changes here before the season barring a preseason injury, in which case the team will likely reach out to Jimmy Garoppollo.

Running Backs (4)
Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Jarquez Hunter, Ronnie Rivers^
Kyren and Corum will be the lead backs. Jarquez Hunter should find his way onto the field at some point this season after getting his rookie year under his belt. Ronnie Rivers rejoins the 53 man roster for purely special teams purposes.
Changes: Ronnie Rivers (In), Dean Connors (Out)
Wide Receivers (5)
Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, CJ Daniels, Jordan Whittingon, Konata Mumpfield
With the Rams committed to going to 13 personnel more, there is just no reason to think the team will keep 6 wide receivers, especially if Kyren Williams is fielding punts now. That makes Xavier Smith expendable.
Changes: Xavier Smith (Out)

Tight Ends (5)
Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson, Davis Allen, Max Klare
13 personnel is here to stay.

Offensive Line (9)
Alaric Jackson, Steve Avila, Coleman Shelton, Kevin Dotson, Warren McClendon, David Quessenberry, Justin Diedich, Beaux Limmer, Keagen Trost
The offensive line seems pretty solidified unless they want to keep a 10th person. In that case, it would seem likely to keep AJ Arcuri.

Defensive Line (6)
Aaron Donald*, Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, Poona Ford, Ty Hamilton^, Tyler Davis
The position group with the most changes. I’m adding Aaron Donald because it seems like a done deal at this point. “When, not if.” I’ve heard Ty Hamilton’s name (in a good way) a few times in camp. Murchison probably gets pushed out because of Aaron Donald. Tim Keenan III should be a practice squad signee.
Changes: Aaron Donald (In), Larrell Murchison (Out), Tim Keenan III (Out)

Edge Rusher (4)
Myles Garrett^, Byron Young, Josiah Stewart, Desjuan Johnson^
Garrett replaces Jared Verse after the June 1st blockbuster trade. I put Desjuan Johnson back on the 53 man because of his versatility as a defensive end and edge rusher – something the team has coveted before with Michael Hoecht.
Changes: Desjuan Johnson (In), Wesley Bailey (Out)
Linebackers (4)
Nate Landman, Omar Speights, Shaun Dolac, Grant Stuard
After consideration, it will take a stand out performance for the Rams to keep a 5th linebacker.
Changes: Nikhai Hill-Green
Cornerbacks (6)
Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, Quentin Lake, Emmanuel Forbes, Josh Wallace, Cam Lampkin^
Cam Lampkin’s name has also generated buzz in training camp. With the team running heavy nickel and dime packages, it’s important for LA to keep defensive backs on the roster in case of injury. Last year, Quentin Lake, and Akhello Witherspoon missed significant time. It’s just crucial to have depth.
Changes: Cam Lampkin (In)

Safeties (4)
Kam Curl, Kam Kinchens, Jaylen McCollough, Alex Cook^
Alex Cook was a late July signing. He has history with defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake from their time at the University of Washington.
Changes: Alex Cook (In)
Special Teams (3)
Harrison Mevis, Ethan Evans, Joe Cardona
Mevis just needs to have a training camp and preseason without drawing attention to himself.
