The 2024 golf season is officially in the books.

Bernhard Langer and his son Jason defended their title at the 2024 PNC Championship, topping Tiger Woods and son Charlie on the first playoff hole at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida. The teams finished at 28 under for the tournament, setting a new scoring record. But 67-year-old Bernhard poured in an eagle putt on the first playoff hole to knock off the Woods’ and win for a record sixth time at the PNC.

Charlie also made his first hole in one, one of two on the day.

Here’s a look at the updates, highlights and more from the final round of the PNC.

PNC Championship playoff shot-by-shot updates for Team Woods, Langer

The teams will play the par-5 18th again.

Tiger hits first, and similar to his first time through, the tee shot leaks right into the fairway bunker. And just like regulation, Charlie steps up and blasts his tee shot down the fairway. Up next is Jason, who hits into the same bunker Tiger is in. Final tee shot is Langer, who again hits a bomb up the right side of the fairway.

Charlie hits first from the fairway, and he finds the fringe on the front of the green. Next is Tiger, who ends up right of the flag and also on the fringe. They have options when it comes to which they want to play. Jason hits first for the Langers, and he hits a beauty to the middle of the green about 20 yards from the flag. Bernhard hits last, and his ball ends up about 5 yards behind Tiger’s ball. Once again, advantage Langers.

Team Woods will play Tiger’s approach. From the fringe, Charlie putts first, and he hits it firm, and it hits the right edge of the cup then runs about 6 feet past. Tiger’s attempt never had a chance. It missed left but is a couple feet closer than Charlie’s.

Langers have two putts to win it. Jason’s putt barely missed. Then Bernhard was up, and he hits it right in the center of the cup. The Langers win for a sixth time.

Team Woods, Langer heading to playoff at PNC Championship

Tiger’s tee shot found a fairway bunker, but Charlie club twirled after piping one down the fairway. Jason Langer missed his tee shot right, but Bernhard also pumped one way up the right side. Both groups in excellent position.

Team Woods up first. Charlie’s shot comes up short and bounces into the bunker. Then Tiger’s lands on the top of the bunker and funnels to the right of the green. The Jason hit the best shot of the group, landing on the front of the green and rolling just through. Bernhard then landed on the front but rolled well past the green. Advantage Langers at the green.

Charlie’s chip was brilliant, settling a couple fee from the hole in what should be a birdie for Team Woods. Next up was Tiger, who was aggressive with his shot but went well past. Then it was the Langers’ turn, who with an eagle would win the tournament.

Jason hit first, and his putt never had the pace but settled a foot from the hole. Then was the 67-year-old Bernhard, whose attempt was too strong and went past the hole. Charlie tapped in for birdie, as did Jason. Playoff time. 28 under for the tournament is a new scoring record.

Tiger was the only golfer to hit the green at the par-3 17th, but he and Charlie couldn’t knock in the birdie attempt, settling for par. Meanwhile, Jason Langer’s shot went into the water, then Bernhard missed the green right. However, they were able to get up-and-down, and now they’re tied with a hole to play.

Two birdies later, and Team Woods and Team Langer remain on top. Now at 27 under, both 14 under thru 16. Fun finish upcoming.

Birdies galore at PNC Championship

The Langers have birdied every hole on the back nine. The Woods’ have birdied on five of the six holes. They’re tied at 26 under with three holes to play. Incredible golf from both teams in the final group.

The two teams in the final pairing have been trading blows all day, and that hasn’t changed on the back nine. After Team Woods cleans up a short birdie look, Jason Langer pours in a 10 footer to match, and the teams are at 25 under and battling it out for the title down the stretch.

So, Tiger hit driver off the deck into the par-5 14th. Then Bernhard one upped him by hitting driver off the deck in the bunker! It came up short of the green but was an incredible shot.

Who’s going to blink first?

Bernhard Langer hasn’t missed a putt all day, powering in a birdie look on the par-4 13th to move to 24 under. Then Charlie stepped up and dripped one over the edge to match the Langers. The duo remain tied on top with five holes to play.

Two aces and a hole out. What a Sunday at the PNC. Carson Kuchar, son of Matt, holed our for eagle from from the the rough on the par-4 16th for eagle.

Team Langer ties Team Woods atop PNC leaderboard

Neither Tiger nor Charlie were able to convert a long birdie putt on the par-3 12th, instead cleaning up for par. However, Bernhard hit a brilliant tee shot short of the hole, and Jason walked in the birdie putt to tie Team Woods at 23 under on top of the leaderboard.

Birdies keep falling for Team Woods, Team Langer

Charlie Woods walked in he and Tiger’s birdie attempt, and then Bernhard Langer showed why he has won this event five times, knocking in another birdie of his own. Team Woods is up to 23 under par, one shot ahead of Team Langer and Team Singh with seven to play.

Charlie was aggressive with his tee shot on the par-4 10th, putting it in the greenside bunker. They got up and down for their seventh birdie in 10 holes, but Bernhard Langer drilled a long birdie putt to stay within a shot.

Tiger Woods lipped in a birdie putt on the par-4 ninth to go out in 8-under 28, and then the Langers, on a similar line to the Woods’, couldn’t match. Tiger and Charlie have a one-shot lead with nine to go.

Team Woods and Team Langer are now 7 under thru 7 holes and 20 under for the tournament. Team Singh is a shot back though 8 holes, but the final group has been electric so far. Who will blink first?

Paddy Harrington makes an ace at PNC Championship

Paddy Harrington, the son of Padraig Harrington, joined the ace party with one of his own on the par-3 eighth hole. The 1 tied the Harrington’s for the lead at 18 under, and it was Paddy’s first ace of his life.

Team Woods had a good look at eagle but was unable to make it fall, settling for birdie. With the leaders through five holes, Team Singh, Team Woods and Team Langer, the defending champs, are each at 18 under.

Talk about memorable. Charlie Woods hit an ace on the par-3 fourth with a 7-iron from 175 yards out. And Team Woods retakes the lead.

For the first time this week, Team Woods didn’t birdie a par 5. Tiger’s putt lipped out on the par-5 third, and Team Singh took the lead after a brilliant tee shot from Qass resulted in a birdie on the par-3 fourth.

Charlie Woods is walking them in early. On the second hole, Tiger hit a brilliant pitch shot short of the hole, and as he did so many times Saturday, Charlie drilled the putt. 2 under thru 2, and 15 under for the tournament.

After a par of wayward drives (Tiger and Charlie went left) they were still able to manage an opening birdie, as did the Langers. 1 under for the day, 14 under for the tournament.

It’s a family affair every year at the PNC Championship, same goes for Team Woods. For the second year, Sam Woods, Tiger’s oldest child and daughter, is on the bag for Big Cat. She and Charlie even had some back-and-forth banter in the first round.
