The Pittsburgh Pirates are heading out west for a road trip and making what could be their final stop ever in Sacramento, California to take on the Athletics.

Based on the newest iteration of the MLB schedule, teams will only face opponents in the other league once per year and visit their park once every other season. With the A’s expected to move to Las Vegas in 2028, this could be the final time the Pirates visit Sacramento, where the franchise is camping out until their move to Nevada is good to go.

Starting off the three-game series for the Pirates is Jarrett Jones, who is making just his fourth start of the season. The Pirates have been conservative with Jones in his outings this season, as he has not gone past five innings in any start. In his last appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 10, Jones pitched four innings and gave up two runs. The Dodgers went on to score four in the sixth, but the Pirates posted three in the seventh and five in the eighth to claim their lone win of the series against the defending champions.

The A’s will counter with JT Ginn, who got the win in his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers with 5.2 innings pitched and five earned runs.

Location: Sutter Health Park, Sacramento, CA

Broadcast: KDKA AM/FM, Sportsnet Pittsburgh

Pitching Matchup: Jared Jones (1-0, 4.73 ERA) vs. JT Ginn (4-3, 3.15 ERA)
