As the Truist Championship heads into the final rounds, the tournament field is shrinking for the PGA Tour event. In the matter of hours, the PGA Tour announced on Saturday that two golfers had withdrawn.

Justin Rose was the first to withdraw as the star golfer battles a back injury. Rose completed the first two rounds before withdrawing. The golfer revealed that he had become “progressively ill” during the week.

“After becoming progressively ill over the past few days, I have made the unfortunate decision to withdraw from the @TruistChamp,” Rose noted in a Saturday message on X. “I am not in a state to complete, and it’s best for me to focus on a quick recovery prior to next week.

“Thanks to all the fans in Philly for the love this week. It’s a special place to me and I’m sorry it wasn’t a better week!”

The PGA Tour also announced that Michael Kim has withdrawn with a back injury. It is particularly surprising news given Kim had started to play the third round.

Kim made it through the first 12 holes before withdrawing. The golfer was over par in four of his last five holes before ultimately pulling out of the tournament.

Ironically, Kim and Rose were paired together at the opening tee time on Saturday. Kim had joked about playing the third round by himself after news broke about Rose’s absence.

Unfortunately, Kim was also forced to withdraw from the Truist Championship. Kim quickly took to X in order to provide fans with an update on his health.

“Back wasn’t great to start the week and aggravated it during the last two days… will get treatment and look to get back as soon as possible,” Kim noted in a Saturday message.
