Lucas Glover has explained that his strange decision to take off his shoes during the final round of the 3M Open came after complaints over leaving spike marks near the hole.

Glover was involved in a bizarre incident after draining a birdie putt on the par-fourth 10th at TPC Twin Cities, immediately removing his footwear before walking to retrieve his ball.

Commentators speculated that the 2009 US Open winner may have been taking a stance against Aimpoint, the green-reading system used by many PGA Tour players that sees them utilise their feet and fingers to gauge breaks.
