Former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Will Zalatoris is in the midst of a difficult 2025 season.

Zalatoris, 28, was a late withdrawal from the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch earlier this month. He returned to the course for this past week’s PGA Championship, but failed to make the cut after posting a 6-over score through the first two rounds at Quail Hollow.

Zalatoris was scheduled to participate in this coming week’s Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club, but those plans have since been derailed by another withdrawal.

On Monday, the PGA Tour announced Zalatoris’ withdrawal from the field. He’ll be replaced by Dylan Wu.

Zach Johnson has also withdrawn from the tournament field.

Zalatoris burst onto the PGA Tour scene with an excellent rookie campaign in 2021, finishing as runner-up in his Masters debut at Augusta National. In 2022, he recorded nine top-10 finishes — including second-place finishes at the PGA Championship and U.S. Open.

After a few starts in 2023, Zalatoris was forced to undergo a season-ending back surgery. He’s currently No. 95 in the FedEx Cup standings and No. 79 in the world golf rankings.

Zalatoris has finished outside of the top-50 in each of his three starts since the 2025 Masters, where he missed the cut with an 8-over score through the first two rounds at Augusta National. His best finish of the year came when he notched T11 at The American Express in January.

The 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge field will be headlined by World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler, who just notched his third career major at the PGA Championship.
