The New England Patriots’ offseason workout program may be in the books, but the team of head coach Mike Vrabel still keeps looking at ways to better its roster. As part of this process, it has invited one of the best offensive tackles in the UFL for a workout.

Gottlieb Ayedze, who spent the 2026 season with the Houston Gamblers and was voted to the league’s all-star team, is getting an opportunity to showcase himself to the Super Bowl runner-ups. James Larsen of UFL Newsroom was first to report the workout.

Ayedze, 26, spent his college career at Frostburg State and Maryland before going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was brought aboard by the Eagles as a rookie free agent, but did not make it out of training camp.

He subsequently signed with the Raiders’ practice squad, where he spent the remainder of his rookie season. However, he was let go during 2025 roster cuts and remained unsigned until joining the UFL in January 2026.

Upon making the move, the 6-foot-4, 308-pound lineman joined the DC Defenders, who held his rights after originally picking him fourth overall in the 2024 UFL Draft. However, just two months later — two weeks before the start of the league’s regular season — he was traded to Houston.

Ayedze went on to start 10 games as the Gamblers’ right tackle. According to Pro Football Focus, he surrendered two sacks during his All-UFL campaign. His all-star announcement described him and his first year in the league as follows:

Ayedze provided a physical presence along the Houston Gamblers’ offensive line after joining the team prior to the start of the year. He helped anchor Houston’s protection schemes and contributed to the team’s efforts in both the passing and rushing attack. The Gamblers ended the season averaging 128.3 rushing yards per game and ranked 3rd in tackles for loss allowed on the year.

The Patriots currently have no open spots on their 90-man offseason roster, and eight offensive tackles under contract. Beyond starters Will Campbell and Morgan Moses, they also selected Caleb Lomu in the first round of this year’s draft.

Outside of the three roster locks, another 2026 draft pick, Dametrious Crownover, rounds out the depth chart alongside James Hudson, Marcus Bryant and Sebastian Gutierrez. Roster-exempt Lorenz Metz is also part of the group.
