The 90th Masters Tournament is underway at Augusta National Golf Club.
While many former champions return to play every year ― they are exempt to play for as long as they would like ― only a handful stay in the mix year after year.

Patrick Reed is definitely one of those.
The 2018 winner here has been a consistent contender for the green jacket since he put one that spring. Here’s more to know about Reed.
Patrick Reed: What’s his status with LIV Golf and the PGA Tour?
Patrick Reed was one of the players who left the PGA Tour when LIV Golf was founded in 2021 and began play in 2022.
He was a member of Dustin Johnson’s Four Aces team on LIV and won once on the tour, in Dallas in 2025.
However, after the 2025 LIV season, Reed left the group, with the hopes of eventually returning to the PGA Tour. He’ll be allowed to play at the end of August of this year and expects to use past-champion status and eventually regain his card.

He’s also a lifetime member of the DP World Tour and has played a host of events on that tour, even during his time on LIV. In 2026, he’s already won two titles on that European-based circuit.

Patrick Reed’s Masters History
Before Reed’s green jacket win in 2018, he didn’t have a great record around Augusta National. In four previous starts, he had missed the cut twice and tied for 22nd and 49th.
But since that victory, he’s found comfort atop the leaderboard. He tied for 36th in 2019 and tied for 35th in 2022. Every other result has been inside the top 12, including a solo third in 2025.
Patrick Reed’s previous Augusta connections
Reed was a collegiate player at what is now Augusta University for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, gaining All-America status and leading the Jaguars to a pair of surprising NCAA championships.
