Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 is reportedly being finalised for Saturday, July 12th at Wembley Stadium.

It’s been rumoured for some time now that Usyk was looking to fight Dubois in a stadium showdown this summer and now the details are becoming finer as the imminent announcement draws closer.

Ring Magazine reported that both sides are ‘crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s’.

When asked if the fight was indeed that close to completion, Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren said, “Not at the moment, nothing done at all. There have been talks, but nothing is done yet. Talking goes on and I hope it comes true.”

An exemption request was lodged with the WBO last week asking to allow Usyk vs Dubois 2 to come before a mandatory fight with their Interim champion Joseph Parker, which was ordered in March.

The WBO President, Gustavo Olivieri, confirmed that an official ruling on this matter will be announced shortly.

The IBF then installed Derek Chisora as their mandatory, so it’s possible that both those belts can be stripped from the holders, Usyk and Dubois, but the different sanctioning bodies will often attempt to work together to allow an undisputed championship to happen.

It’s widely expected that Usyk-Dubois 2 will be an undisputed heavyweight matchup.

These only two reigning world champions already met, almost two years ago now, in August 2023.

There was a big talking point when Londoner Dubois landed a low blow that resulted in the Ukrainian being given four minutes to recover. The fight ensued and Usyk stopped Dubois in the ninth round after the Brit was dropped with a stiff jab.

Post-fight, promoter Warren and his heavyweight charge, who he has managed since his 2012 debut, raged at the referee and officials that the punch was legitimate. However, the WBA investigated the punch after the fight and also ruled it low.

Since then, Usyk became undisputed with an emphatic victory over another Brit, Tyson Fury.
