The first international break of 2025 starts soon, and Barcelona will have a number of players away on national team duty for the next couple of weeks.

As many as seven Barcelona stars have been called up to the Spain squad by Luis de la Fuente for their UEFA Nations League quarter-final double-header vs. Netherlands.

Now, three more Blaugrana first-team players have been handed a call-up to the Spain U-21 squad by head coach Santi Denia.

Fermin Lopez, who was in contention to be named in the senior Spain squad, will be travelling with the U-21 national team instead.

Along with the La Masia graduate, Gerard Martin and Pablo Torre, who has barely played for months, will also be involved with the Spanish U-21 side, who are scheduled to take on the Czech Republic and Germany in friendly matches.

While Fermin and Torre have played for the Spain U-21 side in the past, this is the first time that Martin has received an opportunity and may make his debut for Santi Denia’s team.

Intriguingly, though, while Martin will be involved this international break, his fellow left-back Alejandro Balde has not been named in the senior La Roja squad by De la Fuente, along with Gavi.
