Unofficial money still pays the bills.
While the LPGA’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship was canceled because of weather and course conditions, players will still receive a paycheck.
LPGA officials announced Sunday afternoon that $2 million of the original $3 million purse will be paid out to the field of 144. That’s $500,000 more than the obligated 50 percent per LPGA sanctioning.
Of that, $1.5 million (50 percent of the original purse) will be distributed under the standard LPGA purse distribution method to the top 65 and ties, based on Friday’s 18-hole results. The remaining $500,000 will be divided evenly among all 144 players in the field, with each receiving $3,500.
This marks the first time the LPGA has deemed an event unofficial since the 2007 edition of the Arkansas stop was shortened due to weather. There will be no CME points awarded this week, a blow to those players striving to finish in the top 100 to keep their cards for 2026.
