Tennis legend Novak Djokovic has won the US Open four times, but he’s looking to make it five next week as he begins his 20th singles campaign at Flushing Meadows.
“The Joker” is already cemented in tennis history, holding the record for most men’s grand slam singles titles with 24 under his belt. 25 isn’t out of the question though, especially considering an announcement of withdrawal from world No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Friday, who is nursing a right knee injury.
Now, 39-year-old Djokovic is not completely out of the woods — he has been drawn into the same side as defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, meaning the two could meet in a semifinal showdown. Luckily, Alcaraz has not seen the court for four months due to a wrist injury, which means he might not be at full strength upon return.
