Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Nolan Smith was arrested last week for alleged speeding and reckless driving, according to a report from The Georgia Gazette.

Smith was booked on Friday, May 15. Here’s a look at his mugshot:

Smith was allegedly going nearly twice the speed limit in a 70 miles per hour zone.

This isn’t the first time Smith has been arrested for traffic violations; the following was from January 2022:

According to Marc Weiszer, Smith was charged with speeding in a construction zone and driving on a suspended license. He was reportedly going 89 miles per hour, 44 miles per hour over the limit, while traveling through Barrow County on his way home from the airport in Atlanta. Both of Smith’s chargers were misdemeanors, and he was released shortly after being brought in. His license had been suspended since January 19, 2021. At the time of his arrest, Smith reportedly said that he was getting his license reinstated the next day.

One would hope Smith shows better judgement as a driver moving forward.

The Eagles picked up Smith’s fifth-year option for the 2027 season less than a month ago. The team is hoping he bounces back after a down season plagued by injury issues in 2025. Smith needs to play well and stay out of trouble to warrant a long-term contract extension.
